The Seattle Project and Velocity Dance Center present here because: a multidisciplinary, full-length, performance work that will showcase a union of dancers who oftentimes aren’t able to collaborate and bring together communities who oftentimes don’t intersect. here because is the visual representation of The Seattle Project’s mission, to build connections among creators within and across disciplines, highlight local diverse artists, and provide equitable access to movement based performance. The piece will ultimately answer the question “Why are we here?” We are here because of who came before. We are here because of those who want and need art. We are here because of where we want creation and performance to go. This piece will honor those who have paved the way and recognize a new generation influencing the future. This piece is about community. This piece is for Seattle.
